If Your Eyes Can’t Stop Twitching,
This Is For You

Why Are My Eyes Twitching?

“Twitching eyes” refers to muscular contractions in the eyelid of one or both eyes. It’s more typical to experience these twitches in only one eye on the lower eyelid, but sometimes these contractions can occur on both the upper and lower eyelid, or in both eyes.

How Long Do Twitching Eyes Last?

We understand that twitching eyes can be rather bothersome and interfere with your day-to-day life. Fortunately, almost all under eye or lower eye twitching, eyelid tics and spasms are benign and typically come and go. If the underlying cause is more serious, the twitching can last for weeks or even months.

Eye Twitching Causes, and How to Treat Them:

Caffeine: Too much caffeine can trigger eye twitching. Try cutting back on coffee, tea, chocolate and soft drinks for a week or two and see if your eye twitching disappears.

Eye Strain: Vision-related stress can occur if, for instance, you need glasses or an updated prescription. Even minor vision problems can make your eyes work too hard, triggering eyelid twitching for what could be days.

Nutritional Imbalances: Lack of magnesium can trigger an eye twitch. Be sure to have a well-balanced diet for all eye health issues. Click to learn more about Eye Care Tips

Stress: Breathing exercises, spending time with friends or pets and getting more down time into your schedule are among the many ways to reduce stress that may be causing your eyes to twitch.

Tiredness: A lack of sleep, whether because of stress or other reasons, can trigger a twitching eyelid or an eye spasm. Catching up on your sleep can help.
